BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Agriculture (DA) – Cordillera Administrative Region has completed the profiling of all Agriculture Extension Workers (AEWs) within the region. The Activity covered the AEW’s of the six provinces of the region with 75 municipalities, regardless of the nature of their appointment (Permanent, Casual, Contractual / Job Orders, Local Field Technicians, and All Technical or non-technical/Administrative).
The profiling intends to maximize the Agriculture and Fishery (AF) production while minimizing the production cost; and further strengthen the Agricultural Extension Services, the Research and Development (R&D), and Regulatory System towards food security and sustainability. It also aims to determine and assess the gaps, issues and experiences of different LGU’s in the province as frontlines in undertaking extension services and assess their different extension activities in implementing research and development regulatory activities.
The identified main issues and concerns of AEWs will help the national government to determine the logistical and technical needs of the extension support in the country and the recommendations for an effective and efficient delivery of the extension support to further instigate enhancement of the National Extension Agenda and Programs for 2017 to 2022.
The AEWs profiled are those under the Rice, Livestock, Corn Banner Program, and the High Value Crop Development Program.
The profiling commenced on August 1 and ended on August 24, 2017. Consolidation is ongoing at the Regional Field Office and yet to be submitted to the National Office.
