LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The Department of Agriculture-Cordillera (DA-CAR) on Monday, October 24, participated in the “3rd Dad-an Tako (Our Journey): Conference on Empowering Indigenous Peoples/Indigenous Cultural Communities” at Benguet State University closed gym.
In his presentation, Charles Picpican, Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program Focal Person, explained the objectives and program components of 4K, which are social preparation, production and livelihood, marketing assistance and enterprise development, and program management.
Picpican also highlighted the implemented projects of the program to the indigenous peoples’ organization (IPO) beneficiaries across the region like the Heirloom Rice Production Project for the Domolpos-Ansipsip Ancestral Domain Indigenous Peoples’ Organization, the Chicken Egg Production Projects for the TIPON Iti Umili para ti Panagsalwad ti Naparswaan, and the Coffee Enterprise Development for the Mabangtot Mang-ososaan Ancestral Domain Indigenous Peoples’ Organization.
Meanwhile, other DA-CAR programs, projects, and activities were further exhibited in a booth that houses the information, education, and communication materials produced by the 4K Program and the Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Information Section.
The conference, with the theme “25 Years: Fulfilling the Indigenous Peoples’ Rights and Bridging the Gaps through the ICCs/IPs Convergence with partners and Stakeholders to Economic Sustainability and Security in the Ancestral Domain,” was an initiative of the Cordillera office of the National Economic Development Authority to celebrate the IP month which coincides with the 25th Indigenous Peoples’ Rights Act commemoration.
