BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of Agriculture in the Cordillera region took part in the opening festivities of the Lang-ay Festival in Bontoc, Mountain Province, on April 1, 2024.
Led by the Regional Executive Director, Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan, alongside RTD for Research and Regulations Arlene M. Sagayo, APCO Mountain Province Pedro Pinos-an, and other DA-CAR personnel, the team actively participated in the civic parade and opening program.
During the event, Director Dawayan awarded a significant allocation of 2024 interventions totaling 289 million pesos to the Province. These interventions encompass a wide range of support services, including production, extension, education, training, agricultural machinery, infrastructure, financial assistance, livelihood projects, and small-scale infrastructure support.
Additionally, Director Dawayan together with officials from Mountain Province and DTI Director Juliet P. Lucas spearheaded the Agro-industrial Trade Fair opening. The fair showcased local prides from the 10 municipalities of the Province.
Also, an array of products from the DA-CAR assisted farmers and cooperative associations in Benguet took part in the trade fair. Assorted vegetables, ornaments, herbs, organic and processed goods, as well as fish products, were displayed for sale at the fair, which is slated to run from April 1 to April 5, 2024.
Furthermore, DA-CAR extends its services such as FEEDIS, RSBSA, CSO registrations, and ACPC loan availment to all interested individuals. Visitors are warmly invited to explore the DA-CAR booth and take advantage of these services. By Leny D. Mendoza
