Baguio City – Eight delinquent employers in Baguio City with different businesses were given violation notices letters from the Social Security System (SSS) due to their violation of non-remittance of SSS contributions, non-production of records, and non-registration of a business to SSS.
According to SSS data, a total of 236 employees across various businesses in Baguio City, including a restaurant, laundry shop, land surveying services, two construction firms, a veterinary clinic, and two hotels, have been affected by delinquencies. The total amount of these delinquencies, comprising penalties and principal, amounts to 9,719,457.58 pesos. These employers have a 15-day deadline to rectify the situation and comply with the regulations.
In accordance with Attorney Duchees Veneru Anselmo, the legal representative of the Social Security System (SSS) Baguio branch, eight employers who fail to comply within the stipulated 15-day period will be issued another demand order or may face actions from the SSS. It is crucial for employers to adhere to the regulations set by the SSS to avoid any potential consequences. Atty. Anselmo’s statement underscores the importance of timely compliance with SSS requirements to ensure a smooth process for all parties involved.
Recently, Voltaire P. Agas, the Executive Vice President for Branch Operations Sector at the SSS, announced a nationwide operation on non-compliant employers. The SSS will be issuing violation notices as part of the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) operation to hold delinquent employers accountable for their actions. This event is called “Alay ng SSS para sa mga manggagawa – Serbisyong Mapagkakatiwalaan at Proteksyong Maasahan.”
In the last week of April, the Social Security System organized a simultaneous nationwide race campaign specifically in the North Luzon Division 1 including Baguio City to raise awareness among employers regarding the potential legal consequences of not remitting their employees’ contributions. This initiative also aligns with the upcoming Labor Day celebrations in the month of May.
“We want to assure our members that SSS will take action and penalize employers who fail to register their employees or have not deducted and remitted their contributions, “Agas stated.
Agas has reasserted the Social Security System’s (SSS) dedication to guaranteeing that every Filipino in the workforce has access to social security benefits during emergencies. He also highlighted that the SSS President and Chief Executive Officer (PCEO) consistently put the welfare of Filipino workers first by ensuring their eligibility for the diverse social security protection benefits offered by the national pension fund.
Employees are reminded by the SSS to carefully monitor their SSS accounts to confirm if their employers are indeed remitting their social security contributions.
