BAGUIO CITY – The Department of Health – Cordillera kicked off the Sa Booster PinasLakas campaign in the region at the Baguio City Public Market, Barangay Hilltop-Kayang, July 26, 2022.
The settings-based and COVID-19 booster dose-focused campaign aims to bring the vaccines closer to the public by targeting areas that are most frequented by people, including terminals, plazas, markets, schools, offices/workplaces, factories, malls, and places of worship.
Department of Health (Philippines) Assistant Secretary Kenneth Ronquillo enumerated the many benefits of achieving a wider booster coverage rate, emphasizing the increased chances of the public getting back to practicing normal, unrestricted, and tactile human interactions.
As booster coverage in the region sits at over 25.78% as of July 22, DOH-CAR Regional Director Rio Magpantay called for cooperation from all sectors of society to not just achieve but surpass the targeted rate of 50% by October 8, 2022.
Baguio City Assistant City Health Officer and COVID-19 Vaccination Point Person Celia Flor Brillantes laid down the city’s plans to help encourage its constituents to get boosted, which includes the daily public posting of both its top 20 highest performing and lowest performing barangays in terms of booster administration.
CAR was one of the regions tapped to participate in the simultaneous nationwide launch of the said campaign, which is part of the First 100 Days presidential directives issued by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
