As part of the celebration of the 125th Founding Anniversary of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), DPWH-CAR opens a week-long celebration filled with activities promoting culture, camaraderie, wellness, and health.
With the theme, ‘Makasaysayang Daan tungo sa Maunlad na Kinabukasan‘, the celebration officially started with the opening of the One Town One Product Booths in the Regional Office grounds, showcasing the different products of each province of the Region on June 20.
It was followed by a Fun Run where employees ran an approximate total of 5kms, followed by a Zumba Exercise, and volleyball and basketball exhibition games at the PFVR Gym on June 22.
All leading up to the final culminating activity at the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center on June 23, where a Thanksgiving mass was held followed by the final celebration program.
The program opened with a Dance Sport Competition, showcasing Cha-cha, Rumba, Jive, Tango, and Group Dances of the employees from the Different District Engineering Offices of each Province.
Retirees and Loyalty Awardees, who have devoted most of their life to serving the Filipino people as DPWH Employees were given recognition and tokens of appreciation.
“Because you are all here, I’m sure it (125th Anniversary Celebration) will be a huge success. Congratulations sa’ting lahat (to us all). Happy Anniversary!” Regional Director Khadaffy D. Tanggol, said in his opening message, emphasizing the presence of the 12 District Engineering Office Employees in a unified celebration at the Regional Office.
The celebration came to a close after awarding the winners of the OTOP Booths Highest Sale and Most Creative Booth, Dance Sport, and Fun Run winners, and the coronation of Mr. and Ms. DPWH-CAR 2023.
In addition, the Northern Luzon Cluster, comprised of Regions I, II, III, and CAR, won second place at the Diorama-making contest during the awarding ceremony held at the Central Office.
“We enjoy now the 125 years of DPWH, but we should also contemplate its legacy…The quality policy is our guiding light. We just have to practice what we are memorizing and reciting. Commit to doing the Right Project, with the Right Quality, Right Cost. Yan ay ginagawa, hindi lang sinasabi (We don’t just say it, we do it). So let’s walk our talk. We Recite and We Practice.”
Assistant Regional Director Emmanuel W. Diaz, said, as he reminds the employees to continue upholding the department’s duties and responsibilities in his inspirational message.
Chief Administrative Officer Josephine B. Lagasca acknowledged the management committee, District Engineers, Division Chiefs, and Assistant Division Chiefs present for their support and expressed gratitude to CAREA, CAREMPCO, DELP, the board of judges, and all the employees involved in making the celebration a success.
