BAGUIO CITY – A five-day training on Advance Photography and Videography Training was held on May 22-27, 2023, at DPWH National Training Center, Cabinet Hill, Baguio City, as a continuation to the Basic Photography and Videography Training held last year.
This training aims to supplement the participants’ basic knowledge of photography and videography and further develop their skills in documenting projects and events of the department. This training will also help them use industry-standard photo and video editing software to render quality outputs.
Carmen C. Lardizabal, Supervising Administrative Officer, emphasized the importance of the training in minimizing prolonged production and editing process through improved and high-quality outputs.
Before the training proper, an overview and leveling of expectations were facilitated by Rowena Bernadette R. Foronda.
Baguio Metropolitan Bible Baptist Ekklesia Minister of Gospel Russel S. Dogaong rendered an interactive talk on Moral Values.
Information officer Arden S. Taltala explored the Essential Elements and Principles of Graphic Design with the participants before jumping on the Photoshop interface, tools, and hands-on, step-by-step practice. While creativity is encouraged in using Photoshop, he also emphasized its limitations.
Administrative assistant Marlon R. Ruaro shared his expertise in drone operation through the discussions on the different rules for flying a drone in the Philippines and through an actual and firsthand drone operation at Benguet – Nueva Vizcaya Road, Beckel, La Trinidad, Benguet.
Engr. Marc Jan D. Calub shared his journey, experience, and knowledge in landscape and architectural photography. He led the participants through a hands-on landscape photography experience at Kennon Road and guided them in post-processing their captured images in Photoshop.
Finally, Community Affairs Officer Allyza Juvie D. Tullay, discussed the basics of videography and the DPWH Project Highlight video composition. She guided the participants through step-by-step video editing basics using Adobe Premiere Pro. She also shared tips on basic news writing.
Through the concepts and skills learned and enhanced through the training, the participants were able to produce infomercials and post-processed landscape photographs.
During the last day of the training, the participants expressed their gratitude for having gained another learning experience and friendships with the other participants.
“Practice, practice, practice.” Mark D. Calub emphasized as he responded to the impressions given by the participants, adding “You don’t develop these skills overnight. You really need to practice.”
