DAGUPAN CITY – Better and safer roads are underway for locals and tourists in Sual, Pangasinan.
This after the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-First District Engineering Office implements a road widening project along Pangasinan-Zambales Road to improve safety and traffic flow in the municipality.
Esperanza Tinaza, DPWH regional public information officer, said the project has a 926-meter road widening, which will add lanes for more vehicles.
“The transportation of agricultural products and other goods and services is seen to be easier, safer, and faster going to the business center,” Tinaza said.
A total amount of P31,794,769.50 was allocated for the project funded under the General Appropriations Act of 2023.
The project, which started on February 6, 2023, is expected to be completed before the end of the year.
The Philippines’ largest coal powered plant, the 1,200 megawatt Sual Coal-Fired Power Plant is located in the said municipality.
Among its tourist attractions include St. Peter the Martyr Parish Church, Cabalitian Island, Masamarey Beach, Mayaman Falls, Mabuclao Falls, and Limahong Cave.
The natural harbor of Sual also offers a safe anchorage and shelter to ships from the open sea because it is snugly sitting in a cove and its depth could accommodate big vessels to dock.
