TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Two completed and some continuing infrastructure projects in barangay Dagupan West were allocated funding in July 2021.
These projects include the repair and concreting of the canal cover at Arellano St. and Bonifacio St., with a budget of P1.3 million, and Covering of Drainage Canal between Gen Luna St. and Oroquieta St., with a budget of P1 million. The allocation came from the CLGU’s 20 percent development fund.
According to a resident of the barangay, the establishment of these projects in this order was necessary to prevent excessive water from flooding the road, as this is the primary cause of highway damage and road network serviceability problems.
Aside from the road projects, the CLGU approved the Day Care Center Extension at barangay Dagupan West which was allotted the amount of P700,000.00, however, commencement of the same will depend on the availability of a lot within the barangay.
According to Brgy. Secretary Jordan Dangelan, the barangay took many steps to address the situation right away because the current structure could not accommodate the regular amount of enrolled students. Initially, their CDC’s class schedule was divided into morning and afternoon sessions, but with the completion of the project, an additional room will be available.
According to City Mayor Darwin Estrañero, the project is also a chance to extend the CLGU’s child care service. It also serves as a means of ensuring the students’ health in preparation for the future deployment of face-to-face classes. By Rio Dongcayan Bassong
