TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) recently turned over a farm-to-market road (FMR) project worth PhP1.2 million to Barangay Amlao.
The project was part of the PhP26.4 million budget allocated by the government for infrastructure projects in 22 barangays of Tabuk City, implemented through the DSWD’s KALAHI-CIDSS-PAMANA program.
DSWD Area Coordinator Chan Keight Patongao said that the amount was for cycle one released in 2023, with cycle two expected to be released this year to also fund other priority projects in each barangay.
Patongao underscored the significance of community involvement in project implementation, highlighting the department’s goal of empowerment. “This FMR is just a sub-project of DSWD as our main program is empowering communities. We encourage your active participation in project processes,” he said.
Enrique Baliang, speaking on behalf of Mayor Darwin Estrañero, emphasized the importance of community cooperation in ensuring the success of any project. He encouraged the community to support government efforts in bringing development projects that aim to improve their lives, rather than hinder them.
DSWD has also recently provided an ombak tricycle and funded a community fishpond for Barangay Amlao as part of its sustainable livelihood program.
On Friday, April 12, an FMR project of DSWD was also inaugurated in Barangay Cudal. By Rod Asurin
