TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) under the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), in collaboration with the city government, through the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO), turned over the Child Development Center (CDC) to Sitio Hilltop, Agbannawag recently.
The 48 square meters CDC is a PAMANA project funded by a PhP1..2 million grant from KALAHI-CIDSS and features two restrooms and wash spaces. The Agbannawag barangay decided to use its budget to build a new facility, but other barangays divided theirs to improve multiple CDCs. This facility is meant to serve a community that is isolated from the other CDCs in the barangay.
“Nam-namaen yu nga ma-aywanan daytuy nga center babaen kadagitoy nga nagaget nga parents ken volunteers,” said CDC Worker Madelyn Dalacnas in her appreciation message, noting the center’s capacity, which can now accommodate more learners even from the neighboring sitios.
In addition to its ongoing support, the barangay has pledged its assistance in ensuring the successful operation of the center by providing the necessary materials, especially the water supply. “Bareng adda ti budget ti barangay ta isu ti isaruno tayun,” said barangay Chairman Reymundo Awing.
Sitio Hilltop’s CDC is now the ninth community center established within the barangay. By PIO Tabuk
