The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the local government of Baguio City awarded the Safety Seal to SM City Baguio, SM Supermarket, Ace Hardware, and other mall tenants on June 30, 2021 at the mall atrium. This is to affirm the establishments’ strict compliance to the government-mandated safety protocols against Covid-19.
The Safety Seal Certification program is a voluntary certification scheme that seeks to increase consumer confidence amid the prevailing health crisis. It is an undertaking between the DILG, Department of Tourism, Department of Labor and Employment, Department of Trade and Industry, and Department of Health under DOLE-DOH-DILG-DOT-DTI Joint Memorandum Circular NO.21-01.
The Safety Seal Certification Program aims to encourage the adoption of the Staysafe.ph digital contact tracing and safety reopen the economy.
Awarding the Safety Seal to SM City Baguio officials headed by AVP for North Operations Marc Janssen Pe, mall manager Rona Vida Correa and to its mall tenants representatives are DTI Secretary Ramon M. Lopez, DTI Regional Director Myrna Pablo, DTI Provincial Director Samuel Gallardo, Chief of City Licensing & Business Permits Division Allan Abayao , ARD Juliet Lucas and Ms. Marlene de Castro executive assistant representing Baguio City Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong.
SM City Baguio, SM Supermarket, Ace Hardware, SM Store and other mall tenants such as Star Appliance Center (SM Appliance Center), Watsons, Surplus, Don Henrico’s, Buffalo’s Wings ‘N’ Things, Gringo Chicken, Zarks Burger, Pines Multi Repair Shop, Tony & Jackey, Kwentong Barbero and David’s Salon, are the latest to be certified by DTI.
The number of establishments with safety seals continues to grow as more businesses show their preparedness to be part of this program which encourages to build up safety protocol participation and increase the confidence of the consumers for their safety.
The Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF) are encouraging the customers to support establishments that are awarded with safety seals.
