TABUK CITY, Kalinga- City Mayor Darwin Estrañero spearheaded the distribution of P 10,000.00 cash assistance to the different barangay isolation units (BIUs) and checkpoints of Tabuk City recently.
The Php 10k came from the funds allocated from the City Mayor’s Office.
Aside from the cash assistance, Mayor Estrañero also delivered bags of rice to each barangay to be used as their supplies while running their barangay checkpoints and BIUs.
The four barangays which were given the first cash assistance were barangays Calaccad, Cudal, Bulo and Agbannawag, and that according to the mayor, all barangays will receive theirs the following days.
While distributing the cash assistance and rice, Mayor Estrañero also held a dialogue with the respective punong barangays and inquired about the state of their barangay checkpoints, BIUs.
He also reminded them about their duties and responsibilities as elected officials to protect their constituents not just from the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) but from other forms of external threats, and that they should always follow the guidelines to ensure that not only their constituents remain safe but for them as frontliners as well.
Punong Barangays expressed their thanks for the cash assistance and the rice, saying it is a big help and will provide much needed supplies to augment their dwindling supplies. They also said that they adhere to the guidelines set by the City Local Government to maintain a COVID free Tabuk.
