LAMUT, Ifugao January 18 – A 2-year old girl died while her 5-year old brother is still missing after their boat sank in a river at Compra, Pugold, here, Tuesday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Micha Marzan Bermudez, 2 while her missing brother was named as John Mark Marzan Bermudez, 5, both residents of Pina, Diadi, Nueva Viscaya.
Initial police investigation showed the two children, together with their mother and her sister-in-law, were on board a boat en route to their way home when the said boat was filled up with water from the river that caused it to sink.
The children sank with the boat but their mother was able to push Micha to the riverbank while her brother went missing.
The young girl was rushed to the Lamut District Hospital for medical treatment but he was pronounced dead on arrival by attending physicians while search and rescue operation is still underway for her older brother.
