TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Hundreds of individuals took advantage of the health services offered during a medical mission today organized by the Mangali Professionals Association (MAPA).
The activity, the third to be organized by the MAPA was conducted in Brgy. Mangali Centro,which according to City Planning and Development Officer and MAPA president Maricel Kiley intends to deliver health-related services, and to create awareness on the different programs offered by the government and civil society organizations.
This initiative also brings important services closer to people, especially to those who cannot afford them, she said.
The MAPA, established in 2015 has now more than 400 members. All members hail from the Mangali heritage, including those who trace their roots back to Mangali.
Services given include medical consultation and check-up, dental and tooth extraction, circumcision, eye check-up and distribution of reading glasses, bloodletting, veterinary services, haircut,free legal aid, and awareness campaigns on various government programs and services.
Sixty-six-year old Helen Awingan, from Brgy. Poblacion, upon learning of the event, rushed to the venue to avail of the free tooth extraction, saying the service she got was an ease on her budget.
The medical mission cum advocacy caravan is also in partnership with LGU Tanudan through its Municipal Health Office, Kalinga Medical Society, DOH-Kalinga, Kalinga Provincial Police Office,Tanudan Police Station, Provincial Local Government Unit through the Office of the Provincial Governor, Office of the Congressman, Kalinga Dental Society, DOLE-Kalinga, and Philippine Health Insurance Office-Kalinga.
MAPA has also partnered with the IBP-Kalinga, Rotary Club of Tabuk, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Kalinga State University, Wellmade Manufacturing Corporation (Producer of Speed Products), Victory Liner Inc, local media outfits and GNF Merchandize for this cause.
