LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A high value drug suspect was arrested while close to P1 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by combined police operatives and anti-narcotics agents in separate anti-illegal drug operations in some municipalities in the province Wednesday.
In Barangay Beckel, La Trinidad, a 30-year-old male driver will now be facing charges for violations of RA 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, after being caught selling suspected shabu weighing approximately 1.47 grams, with a street value of P9,996.00. This buy-bust operation was successful with the collaborative effort of the Benguet PPO Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit, together with the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station (MPS), Regional Drug Enforcement Unit, and Philippine Drug Enforcement Unit-CAR.
On the other hand, three marijuana eradication operations launched by joint operatives of the Bakun MPS, 1st Benguet Provincial Mobile Force Company, Kibungan MPS, Regional Intelligence Division, and PDEA-CAR resulted in the discovery of 3,000 grams of dried marijuana stalks in barangay Kayapa, Bakun, and 3,550 fully grown marijuana plants in barangay Tacadang and Poblacion, Kibungan.
The said marijuana plants, with a total value of P1,079,996.00, were all burned after documentation while operatives were conducting follow-up operations to identify additional marijuana cultivation sites and individuals complicit in such activities. By Dexter A. See
