BAGUIO CITY – A 23-year old housewife died while two others were injured when their vehicle overshot a sharp curve, hit a pedestrian and fell off an 80-meter deep ravine at Irisan, here, Saturday afternoon.
Police authorities identified the fatality as Mary Ann Lagawad Balao, married, housewife, who is the driver of the ill-fated vehicle, and resident of Agro Park 15, Irisan, Baguio City while the injured individuals wer named as Mable Managdag Man-od 25, single, self-employed, and resident of Sariling Sikap, San Carlos Heights, Baguio City and Maria Luisa Fallayos Barredo, 45, married and resident of Loakan, Magsaysay, Baguio City.
Initial police investigation showed that Balao was driving her vehicle with Man-od as her passenger when upon reaching the place of incident, she allegedly overshot the sharp curve in the area, lost control of the vehicle that hit Barredo before falling off the said ravine in the area.
The victims were immediately rushed by concerned residents and rescuers to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (BGHMC) for medical treatment but the driver was pronounced dead on arrival while the other individuals were still undergoing close medical supervision.
