BONTOC, Mountain Province – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)–Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) through the Kapit-Bisig Laban sa Kahirapan-Comprehensive and Integrated Delivery of Social Services (KALAHI-CIDSS) PAyapa at MAsaganang PamayaNAn (PAMANA) Community Driven Development Program for Indigenous People (IP-CDD) is facilitating an on-going Procurement Training to its members from four barangays within the municipality today, August 23, 2023, at the Municipal Capitol Auditorium.
The training is an avenue for the barangay officials of barangays Bontoc Ili, Samoki, Maligcong, and Tocucan to be trained on the standard procedure of KALAHI-CIDSS community-based procurement regarding the acquisition of goods, technical services, and economize the fund which will be allocated to them by the said program.
KALAHI-CIDSS-PAMANA IP-CDD seeks to empower indigenous peoples communities affected by or vulnerable to conflict, and engage them as active partners in development by involving them in culture and gender-sensitive processes of identifying community needs, planning for and implementing appropriate sub-projects, and participating in project outputs and results monitoring.
In his message, Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong Jr., expressed his profound gratitude to the DSWD as the lead agency that implements the program.
He remarked that it is the first time for the Municipality of Bontoc to receive assistance from DSWD’s KALAHI-CIDSS program saying that the 1.2 Million fund allocated for each barangay is of significant financial and technical assistance in the implementation of local infrastructure projects that address the community’s needs.
Regional Procurement Officer Faronny C. Cattel and Community Procurement Officer Kenneth Duane Pugoy from DSWD-CAR, as well as personnel from DSWD-Mountain Province, are facilitating the said training. By MP Press Release
