TANUDAN, KALINGA – The Improvement of Banneng-Gombowoy farm-to-market road (FMR) in Tanudan, Kalinga is almost completed.
Kalinga Governor Jocel C. Baac, announced the good news, in a recent visit to the Cordillera office of the Department of Agriculture (DA-CAR).
The 13-kilometer FMR project was implemented under the DA’s Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP), and launched on March 3, 2016 with a total cost of P130, 650,903.08.
Its financing was contributed by the World Bank at 80 % while the national government and the provincial government of Kalinga shared 10 % each of the total cost.
The FMR project connects with the Tabuk-Paracelis National Road and Tabuk-Tanudan-Banaue National Road at opposite ends, potentially benefitting some 673 farming households with 4,000 members who are engaged in the cultivation of coffee, corn, rice, banana, root crops, and vegetables as their main source of livelihood.
The completed FMR is targeted to turned over to the beneficiaries on February 12, 2018 with DA Secretary Emmanuel Piñol, as guest of honor, according to DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Narciso A. Edillo.
The other PRDP road projects being implemented in Kalinga includes the improvement of the 15.8 kilometers, Bulanao-Amlao FMR in Tabuk City at 79.17% completion; and, improvement of the 13.2 kilometer Catabbogan-Wagud FMR in Pinukpuk at 30.49% completion to date.
The concreting of the Bulanao-Amlao FMR covers barangay Bulanao, Malin-awa, Balawag, Amlao, Suyang, and Lucog with a project cost of P196,207,206.23, while the Catabbogan-Wagud FMR covers barangay Catabbogan, Malagnat, Taggay, Ammacian, Wagud, and Sacpil of Conner, Apayao. The latter costs P197, 669,399.91 which started on March 8, 2017 and is expected to be completed on July 2018.
