BAGUIO CITY – Kuya Ponz and Stallion commissioned their first win in bracket “c”, pushing aside Bloothers and Supreme to the sidelines, respectively, during last Monday, August 7, 2017, games for Y’Cup 14 at the YMCA gymnasium, here.
The Stallions matched up with the Bloothers, registered a 19-17 run, having been defenseless against the three point baskets of the opponents but strived using the boards, at the end of the first quarter action.
Controlling the boards, coupled with good defense, increased the stallions’ advantage on a 13-11 run that gave them a four point lead, 32-28, at the end of the second canto buzzer.
A low scoring third canto got both ball clubs limited to only twelve points each, with the Stallions still hanging on to the four point lead by the end of the third.
Both ball clubs gained their composure back in the fourth canto, challenging each other on the three point area for the front seat.
TheStallions went to register a 27-22 blast until the dying minutes of the fourth to retain the upper hand and grab a win, 71-62.
Meanwhile, dominance of the game was the goal of bracket “C’s” Kuya Ponz and they went on to dominated right from the start.
First canto action had both ball clubs in a steady shootout as Kuya Ponz finished it having a slight advantage, 18-17.
With good ball rotation on the second canto, Kuya Ponz attacked both shaded and the three point area, converting baskets to maintain and up their lead by a 22-16 run resulting in a seven point lead at the end of the second canto buzzer, 40-33.
Third canto action resulted to equal opportunities for both ball clubs resulting in a 20-all quarter score with Kuya Ponz maintaining their lead, 60-54.
An excruciating end game in the fourth quarter got Supreme off-guard as Kuya Ponz continued to dominate and dictate the game pace and finished the game with a 13 point lead, 80-67.
