BUGUIAS, Benguet – La Trinidad secured championship after accumulating a total points of 540.5 during the Division Science and Math Festival 2019 with the theme “Science and Mathematics for the People: Enabling Technologies for Sustainable Development” in Loo, Buguias, Oct. 9-11.
Moreover, Mankayan seized 2nd place with 363 points followed by Buguias with 231 points. Tublay bagged the 4th place with 226 points; Kapangan with 113.5 points ranked 5th; Bokod with 100 points earned the 6th place and Tuba with 95.5 points placed 7th. Benguet Private Schools Association (BPSA) ended 8th placer with 93 points succeeded by Atok with 71 points and Itogon I with 68 points. Kabayan and Kibungan came next in rank with 52 points followed by Itogon 2 with 37 points then Sablan with 23.5 points.
Dr. Benilda M. Daytaca, Assistant School Division Superintendent and Officer-in-Charge of the Office of the Schools Division Superintendent emphasized that Math and Science always go together since we use Math to do science proving the statement “Math is the language of Science.”
On the other hand, Benguet Governor Melchor D. Diclas, represented by his Executive Secretary, encouraged learners to strive to compete for higher level of competition.
First placers in Damath, Math and Science Quizzes, Mathematical Investigation and On-the-Spot Science Competition while top 3 winners for the Science Investigatory Project (Life and Physical), Robotics and Innovation Expo will represent the division in the upcoming Regional Science and Math Festival in Tabuk City in November.
Elizabeth M. Bay-an (BSU-Buguias Campus Executive Dean), Melchor C. Tican (Public Schools District Supervisor of Buguias) and Dr. Rizalyn A. Guznian (Chief of Curriculum Implementation Division) welcomed the participants.
