TABUK CITY, Kalinga – As soon as Lacnog West became a separate barangay, the city government greeted them with a P20 million road construction appropriation from the city’s supplemental budget, as well as a P1 million street light installation.
To recall, the residents of the aforementioned barangay pooled their resources and spent money to obtain gravel for use in the official opening of the farm-to-market road that runs through their barangay.
The city government therefore prioritized the citizen-sponsored graveled road and set a goal of completing its concreting from Sitio Lanlana through Madopdop to San Pablo by May 2022, under the supervision of the City Engineering Office.
Salomi Addamu, a barangay worker, expressed his gratitude to the city government and specifically to Mayor Darwin Estrañero for awarding one of the largest projects to Lacnog West.
Addamu further claimed that the solar-powered street lighting project will be completed in May 2021 with a total of 21 posts.
Addamu said, “Dakkel a tulong dagituy street lights ta maysa met lang a katulungan iti dagiti tanod nga agbantay iti barangay.”
The mayor intends to allot additional budgets for street lights this year.
