SABANGAN, Mountain Province  – Barangay Lagan headed by Punong Barangay Jonie Frenzel Omero is the Best Performing Barangay  in the municipality of Sabangan, Mountain Province.

Award was awarded by  Mayor Donato Danglose, on the first day of Gagayam Festival Celebration, March 28, 2016 at the Saint Joseph Parish Plaza.

This was determined through the consolidated report of the 12 member Adhoc Committee composed by different heads of Offices of LGU Sabangan, Private sector, Sanitary Inspector, PNP, Bureau of Fire and the DILG through its Mun. Local Government Unit Operations Officer.

Based on the Adhoc Committee Report, criteria for the Best Performing barangay are Clean and Green, Good Governance and Financial Housekeeping, Barangay  Peace and Order Council and  Barangay Council for the Protection of Children. On Good Governance, it covers the barangay on 1.  Adherence to Full Disclosure Policy where the barangays should post all their activities in their bulletin board for the public. Sad to note that only Barangay Lagan, Tambingan and Camatagan complied.2. Next is  Attendance to Official Meetings. 3. Conduct of Barangay assemblies. Again only six barangays complied, Barangays Lagan, Poblacion, Tambingan, Supang, Camatagan and Losad. 4. Audit Observation Memorandum. 5. Adherence to Mandated Plans.

On Barangay Peace and Order Council, only Six barangays conducted meetings and have accomplishments, Barangays Lagan, Camatagan, Namatec, Poblacion, Supang and Tambingan.

On Barangay Council for the Protection of Children, Only Six Barangays conducted meetings and have accomplishments, Barangays Lagan, Tambingan, Poblacion, Supang and Camatagan. The rest just organized their Barangay council only.

On Clean and Green, Barangay Supang maintained its title as the Cleanest Barangay. On the past years, the search is only for the cleanest and greenest barangay but then Mayor Danglose issued an admintrative Order organizing an Adhoc Committee to monitor/validate the best performing barangay in this municipality. Winner will receive 200 thousand pesos from the municipal coffer.

In additional to the Title as Best Performing Barangay, Barangay Lagan is the champion in Street Dancing, Cultural Presentation and Battle of the Gongs on the elementary level of the just concluded Gagayam Celebration March 28 to 31, 2016.

Barangay Lagan is one of the oldest barangay of this town. It is located across the Chico River facing Barangays Tambingan and Poblacion.  Its people are known to be fierce but very accommodating. They resemble the Samoki people of Bontoc who are automatically interconnected especially for the protection and welfare of their barangaymates. They also have these stick together feelings towards each other which other barangays recognized and respect them for that. They have this unique way to appreciate music and arts. It is said that you can’t be bored staying in Barangay Lagan coz they love parties and group picnics.
