LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government recently acquired a new garbage truck and a mobile s-ray laboratory to help boost the town’s garbage collection and the delivery of health services to the various barangays.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda said that funds used for the purchase of the garbage truck and mobile x-ray laboratory were sourced from the municipal government’s internally generated resources to sustain the efficient and effective garbage collection and the delivery of basic health services amidst the rapidly increasing population.
He claimed that some PhP4.5 million was used to purchase the mobile x-ray laboratory while PhP3.9 million was allocated for the procurement of the new garbage truck which will augment the municipal government’s current fleet of garbage trucks that collect the garbage from the established pick up points in the 16 barangays and haul these to the engineered sanitary landfill in Capas, Tarlac.
The municipal chief executive added that the mobile x-ray machine will be stationed at the rural health unit but it will be serving the needs of the residents in the different barangays upon request by the barangay officials and barangay health workers.
He noted that the garbage being generated by the residents and businesses in the municipality continues to significantly increase thus the municipal government decided to purchase the additional garbage truck to augment the current fleet of garbage trucks to ensure the timely collection of solid waste in the pick up points in the different barangays to avoid the piling up of garbage in the communities.
Earlier, the municipal government engaged the services of Bantay Basura volunteers in the different barangays to ensure that the garbage being brought by residents in the pick up points are properly segregated to help reduce the volume of solid waste being brought to the town’s Alno controlled dump facility and hauled out of the municipality to the Capas sanitary landfill.
On the other hand, Salda stipulated that the mobile x-ray laboratory will be used to cater to the increasing needs of residents to undergo x-ray.
He assured the residents that the municipal government will continue to procure the needed equipment and machineries that are pivotal in sustaining the effective and efficient delivery of services because of the rapidly increasing demand for various kinds of basic services as a result of the significant growth in the town’s population due to the migration of people from the rural areas to the province’s urban centers for them to have gainful employment and economic activities.
The mayor asserted that no resident in the 16 barangays should be left behind in availing of the basic services being provided by concerned government agencies and the local government because efforts are being done to guarantee that the said services will be readily available through the purchase of the needed equipment and machineries that will help in providing efficient and effective services to the people pursuant to the mandate of the newly launched Bagong Pilipinas which is being pioneered by the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. By Dexter A. See
