LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government issued a directive strictly implementing physical distancing and the mandatory wearing of face masks by all residents and visitors, in all public places, satellite markets, and stores, among others, in the municipality.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda issued Executive Order (EO) No. 19, series of 2020, that people frequenting public places, offices, establishments, groceries, markets, satellite markets, stores among others in the municipality should observe the prescribed physical distancing and mandatory wearing of face masks.
Further, Salda ordered the aforesaid establishments to set up a wash area at the entrance or frontage of their stores or facilities and set a day to disinfect their areas and premises.
The municipal chief executive ordered the personnel of the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station, barangay tanods, volunteers and deputized agents of persons in authority to arrest violators of the order and the arrested individuals will be dealt with accordingly.
As per the daily report of the health department, the number of Corona Virus Disease (COVID) 2019 cases in the world continues to rapidly increase which causes alarm among the populace who want to ensure their protection from the illness.
Further, Salda pointed out that since the implementation of the Luzonwide enhanced community quarantine, there are only 3 confirmed COVID cases in the municipality and more importantly, they were all reportedly discharged from the health facilities where they were confined and were subsequently issued the clean bill of health.
He asserted that in view of the continuing threat of the deadly virus and its possible spread in the municipal, the municipal government already issued several issuances prescribing guidelines, window periods, and all other executive orders pursuant to national directives from the inter-agency task force on the management of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases to maintain order and stability.
However, despite the existence of such issuances, it has been observed there are still many people who are out of their residences who do not observe physical distancing and the mandatory wearing of face masks.
Mayor Salda underscored that the residents should take the executive issuances seriously to thwart the spread of the deadly virus and prevent more people from contracting the illness that is why it is important for people to stay at home.
“We do not understand why people refuse to cooperate with the policy on physical distancing and the mandatory wearing of face masks which has been a prescribed preventive measure to avert the possible spread of the virus” Mayor Salda stressed.
The municipal mayor expressed his confidence that residents and the public will cooperate with the latest issuance as what is being protected is the general welfare as it is a global policy for people to strictly adhere to physical distancing and the wearing of face masks to prevent them from contracting the illness.
