LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – The municipal government will be conducting a dry run on the operation of its own version of the night market to help in improving the economic activities in the locality and provide added income-generating events for residents.
Mayor Romeo K. Salda disclosed that the dry run will be conducted from November 3 to December 3, 2019, 7:30 pm to 2 am daily to serve as an avenue for the local government to assess and evaluate the said activity for possible adjustments once it will be in full operation after the said period.
Earlier, the municipal council approved an ordinance that institutionalized the conduct of a night market in the local government’s property at Km. 5 to provide interested individuals with income-generating opportunities and maximize the potentials of the municipality to entice more people to visit the town even at night.
“We will first conduct a dry run of our night market operation for us to assess and evaluate the areas where we need to adjust to ensure that there will be no unnecessary hitches once we will allow its full blast operation,” Mayor Salda stressed.
The local chief executive encouraged bonafide residents of the municipality interested to avail of the available slots in the night market to visit the concerned offices of the local government for them to be able to submit the pertinent requirements and process their permits that will ensure them to participate in the initial night market operation starting early next month.
According to him, interested concessionaries of the available night market stalls should strictly comply with the stringent rules and regulations in the conduct of their business activities to ensure order and cleanliness of the night market area and for them to be able to entice residents and visitors to patronize the town’s night market.
He stated that the local government will try to work on the implementation of the needed adjustments during the dry run so that there will be no unnecessary problems that will be created once the said nightly activity will be in full operation right after the dry run period.
He disclosed that appropriate security personnel will be dispatched by the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station within the night market area to provide the needed police visibility that will prevent unscrupulous individuals from taking advantage of the crowded situation in advancing their own evil motives that could derail the night market operations.
On the other hand, Salda assured that public that vendors of food items have gone through stringent processes to ensure that they comply with health and sanitation standards to prevent buyers from being compromised when buying the uncooked and cooked items that are allowed to be sold in the night market area.
Salda expressed confidence that the dry run of the night market will be successful so that residents and visitors alike will be able to have an alternative place to visit in the municipality, especially at night when there are no longer nightly activities being done in the locality like crowd drawing events that add up to enhanced nightly activities.
He encouraged the public to patronize the local government’s night market activity and provide the needed suggestions and recommendations on how to further improve the conduct of the same and become one of the town’s major crowd drawing event.
