MANKAYAN, Benguet – Outgoing Mayor Frenzel A. Ayong disclosed that the completion of majority of the multipurpose centers in most of the town’s barangays, aside from the improvement and opening of vital farm-to-market roads, are among the significant accomplishments of his administration that will end noon of June 30, 2022.
Further, Ayong claimed he will also be leaving behind the completion of the remaining multipurpose centers in some barangays and the proposed construction of the P50 million evacuation center funded by the State-owned Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
He pointed out that his administration did not only rely on the limited development funds of the municipal government to implement the numerous projects in the different parts of the municipality, but it was the strong partnership and collaboration of the present batch of municipal officials with concerned government agencies, the provincial government and the Office of Rep. Yap that contributed in the successful implementation of the programmed projects.
Mayor Ayong underscored it was difficult to establish the appropriate linkages with concerned agencies for the inclusion of the municipal government’s priority projects for funding but he was lucky to have been able to work with them that paved the way for the funding of key projects in the locality over the past several years, apart from implementing the projects funded under the local development fund.
According to him, it is worthy to have served the people of the municipality even in a limited way but it was fulfilling on his part to have given his best to help in lifting the current status of the municipality through the implementation of high impact development projects.
He stipulated that his loss in the recently concluded May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections is just a temporary setback in his political career and that he will use the next 3 years to work on various endeavors to help his constituents and other individuals needing assistance as best as he could.
Ayong expressed his gratitude to the people of Mankayan who continue to trust his ability to serve them as a private citizen because that is the essence of public service.
