MALACAÑANG – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said the government’s new year’s resolution is to have ‘mahusay at tapat na serbisyo’ for the betterment of lives in the year 2024, “We look forward to the New Year with a pledge to build better and more.”
In his message he gave motivation on overcoming obstacles by reflecting on the past events that the country has triumphed over, highlighting the county’s national heroes. “This is a land of heroes, past and present,” as he mentioned the year 2023’s experiences which prepared the nation to face the present year.
Marcos then emphasized a service that can be felt by the nation as he shared some of his administration’s achievements last year including 33 new specialty centers, over 2000 classrooms, seven additional cold chain facilities, projects on renewable energy, and 147 water projects. Adding to their commitment is the purging of government rules that slow the delivery of public services, “When projects get delayed, progress is denied to our people,” he said. Moreover, Marcos also highlighted the Free College Program resulting in giving more attention to careers in the fields of science and technology, engineering, mathematics, and other professions. Agricultural support was also mentioned such as seedlings, fertilizers, and fuel.
The president also made clear that their welfare programs involving the giving of ‘ayuda’ was not a permanent project and did not promote dependency. Marcos said that it centers on being consistent, not constant, “Effective aid does not lead people to hardship. The objective is to graduate from poverty.”
“As long as values that bind us keep us united in our collective pursuit of shared progress, we will succeed”, Marcos concluded. By Adrian Mas
