TABUK CITY, Kalinga – In line with the celebration of Tabuk City’s 74th founding anniversary and the 23rd Matagoan Festival, themed “A Journey to the City of Life,” the Matagoan, a Youth-Led Battle of the Bands 2024 was conducted at the City Hall Canopy on June 12, 2024.
The event highlighted the vibrant musical talent within the community and fostered a sense of unity and celebration among the youth where five talented bands competed for the top spot, delivering electrifying performances that captivated the audience.
The event had been organized by the City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office (CSCCO), led by Glenn Wansi, Local Youth Development Officer Gkachay Claver, DILG Tabuk City Field Office headed Helen Lacuesta, and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Federation President Daphne Andrea Amla.
The panel of judges include Eduardo Ancheta, Oliver Gacuya, Marjorie Lingbawan, and Josef Campano.
The winners of the contest are as follows: Champion: Alternatribo Band, who received a cash prize of PhP15,000; 1st Runner-Up: UK Band, with a cash prize of PhP10,000; 2nd Runner-Up: Balong Lightbringers Band, receiving a cash prize of PhP7,000; and 3rd Place: A tie between Mix & Match Band and Afterschool Band, receiving PhP5,000 each.
The Matagoan Youth-Led Battle of the Bands not only showcased the immense musical talent in Tabuk City but also reinforced the spirit of community and celebration that the Matagoan Festival embodies.
This event marks another milestone in the journey to the city of life, where creativity and unity thrive.
