Mankayan, Benguet – A 14-year old teenager was hurt when an 11-year old child accidentally fired a gun at him on the morning of February 21, 2018.
According to a report by the Benguet Provincial Police Office, the victim, male, single, grade 8 and a resident of Mankayan, Benguet, narrated to her elder sister that he was awaken by two gun shots. After a while, he heard the suspect, male, grade 5, single and a resident of Mankayan, Benguet, shouting his name, asking him to come out and see the gun he was holding.
The victim then told the suspect to stop pointing the gun to him and tried to grab the it but the suspect accidentally pulled the trigger.
The victim felt he was hit and able to run towards a neighbor to seek for help.
The victim was rushed to the Mankayan Infirmary Clinic and later referred to Luiz Hora Hospital, Bauko, Mt. Province.
Follow-up investigation revealed the victim sustained gunshot wound on his left face below his left eye by a cal. 38 hand gun.
The firearm used was recovered along with three live ammos.
The suspect, being minor, was turned over to the Assistant Social Worker of Mankayan, Benguet.
