BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial government and three municipal governments stole the limelight in the recently concluded annual gathering of the Association of Government Certified Public Accountants of the Philippines as the same were adjudged for having the best accounting offices in their categories.
Mountain Province was awarded for having the best accounting office in the provincial level while the Bontoc municipal government was elevated to the Hall of Fame Award for having been adjudged with the best municipal accounting office for three consecutive times
Bauko was also adjudged with the best municipal accounting office for the second year in a row while Besao and Sadanga were also recognized for having the best municipal accounting offices.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. led the delegation of the provincial government in receiving the award while Besao Mayor Johnson Bantog II accompanied personnel of the Besao municipal accounting office in receiving the recognition that was given by the prestigious organization.
He expressed his greetings and congratulations to the different delegations from the provincial government and the different municipal governments that were able to garner awards for a job well done and encouraged them to continue introducing the appropriate innovations in their programs, projects and activities that will help improve their services to their clients.
“We hope that the awards that were conferred to the provincial and municipal governments will serve as an inspiration and motivation for other local governments not only in the province but also in the different parts of the country to strive for the best for them to be able to be on the possible awardees in the future,” Lacwasan stressed.
Part of the criteria for judging of the best accounting offices include the compliance of the concerned local governments to the government accounting rules and regulations aside from putting value on the innovations that were introduced that will speed up the transactions being processed by the said offices.
The Government Certified Public Accountants of the Philippines is the organization of government accountants that are employed in the different government agencies, local governments, state colleges and universities, government-owned and controlled corporations and government financial institutions.
For his part, Mayor Bantog said that the award conferred to the municipal accounting office is a product of the hardwork, perseverance and commitment of the personnel in trying to improve the services that they provide to their clients that have resulted to client satisfaction, especially that the municipal accounting office is one of the equally important offices tasked to assist in the effective and efficient delivery of services to the public.
He also expressed his greetings and congratulations to the officials and personnel of the municipal accounting office and to the other awardees that despite being part of the lower classes of municipalities in the country, the municipal governments are able to show the way in terms of performance of their assigned duties and responsibilities leading towards the delivery of effective and efficient services to the people.
