BONTOC, Mountain Province – The provincial election office recorded some four thousand six hundred thirty-six registration transactions during the registration period for the upcoming October 23, 2023 barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections
Provincial Election Supervisor lawyer Ricardo S. Lampac disclosed there were some 3,550 new registrants that included some 2,414 new registrants for the SK elections.
Further, he added there were also some 585 new registrants under the barangay elections and 551 transfer of registration to their desired barangay in the province that came from outside election offices.
The provincial election officer claimed that the registration from December 12, 2022 to January 31, 2023 was successful in the province based on the recorded registrants for both the barangay and SK elections and the poll body will convene the election registration board (ERB) to conduct the necessary hearings if there will be questions raised on the new registrants and those that transferred their registration to the province.
During the May 9, 2022 synchronized national and local elections, Mountain Province had more than 117,000 registered voters spread among the 10 municipalities.
Lampac expressed his gratitude to the personnel of the various municipal election offices in the province for their time, efforts and resources during the registration period that resulted in the success of the registration to accommodate the new voters for the upcoming October barangay and SK elections.
He also thanked the residents of the province who patronized the services of the poll body that allowed them to facilitate their registration or the transfer of their registration inside and outside the province for them to be able to exercise their right of suffrage during the upcoming elections.
Lampac claimed that considering the completion of the registration of voters and the future meetings of the ERB, it will be smooth sailing for the poll body to conduct the necessary preparatory activities for the upcoming October barangay and SK elections.
Among the important preparatory activities for the next barangay and SK elections include the conduct of the required trainings for teachers and the preparation of the schools that will be used as polling precincts during the said political exercise.
Mountain Province is one of the most peaceful provinces during the elections which makes election officials confident that the October elections will remain generally peaceful and orderly with the utmost cooperation of concerned sectors in the different municipalities.
Lampac called on individuals who have issues to raise on the new registrants or on those who transferred their polling areas to immediately raise these in the election registration boards for deliberations so that they can be acted upon before the release of the final list of voters for the said elections to avoid unnecessary delays.
