BAGUIO CITY – The National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) in partnership with the Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP) will conduct a 3-day workshop with the region’s top water providers, water districts and relevant government agencies this March 20 to 22 to formulate the Regional Water and Sanitation Masterplan. This was agreed upon by NEDA-CAR and EDCOP during a planning meeting held last January 30.
The Regional Masterplan will lay down the framework and activities to achieve access to safe drinking water and sanitation for the whole region. The participants who will come from all over the region are expected to provide their views, comments and recommendations, and other inputs toward the formulation of the plan. This event is part of a series of consultative workshops with NEDA and its partners to formulate the National Water and Sanitation Masterplan that will serve as the roadmap in achieving universal access to safe drinking water and universal basic sanitation for the country within the next decade.
According to DOH-CAR, around 6 out of every 10 households in the region as of 2016, have access to safe and clean water. Mountain Province has 100% access or 10 out of every 10 households. Consulting firms Engineering and Development Corporation of the Philippines (EDCOP), Tractebel Philippines, and Orient Integrated Development Consultants Incorporated (OIDC Inc.) lead the research and consultations. The overall Master Planning project is funded by NEDA
