KIANGAN, Ifugao – The Bolog Livestock Organization (BLO) in Kiangan, Ifugao can now proceed with the operation of their livestock production livelihood after the turnover of the Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Project by the Department of Agriculture- Cordillera (DA-CAR) on May 9, 2024.
DA-CAR Regional Executive Director Atty. Jennilyn M. Dawayan personally led the turnover ceremony which was participated in by partner-implementers from the provincial and municipal local government units, BLO officers and members, and community representatives.
Amounting to a total of PhP5.5 million, the INSPIRE swine housing facility project is inclusive of perimeter fence, climate-controlled animal house, waste management system-biogas, basic farm equipment, shower area, and initial stocks of piglets including feeds and biologics. The INSPIRE project is designed to enhance biosecurity and disease control measures in the community while simultaneously supporting the repopulation and growth of the local swine industry
“Usually we are invited to the turnover but how I wish, we will witness the success of the projects,” Dawayan said. “This project is a big opportunity here in Ifugao because the climate is very amiable to this kind of business,” the director added, emphasizing on the transparency among members as a key tenet in order to build an upright integrity.
Meanwhile, BLO President Bonifacio P. Dulnuan shared that they had been waiting for the project to be turned-over so that they can operate. “We know that this is a big responsibility but we are committed to take the challenge, and with the help of our partner agencies, the DA-CAR, provincial and municipal governments, we believe that we can prevail,” he added.
This is the third INSPIRE project turned over in the province of Ifugao out of the six total approved projects in the province. By Tan Dulag
