BONTOC, Mountain Province – The newly-elected and re-elected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) officials of this municipality took their oath of office before Mayor Jerome “ Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr., on November 13, 2023, at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol grounds.
Present to witness the oath-taking ceremony are municipal elected officials, employees from the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU), personnel from partner national government agencies, and barangay officials of Bontoc Ili and Poblacion who are in attendance for the Monday Flag Raising Ceremony.
Mayor Tudlong congratulated the SK officials as he expressed high hopes for the collaboration of the SK officials with the Bontoc Local Government Unit (LGU) and other partner stakeholder in various programs and projects that calls for youth empowerment.
Likewise, the mayor urged the SK officials to take on the responsibilities of their leadership and deliver the public service that the constituents expect from them. Thus, he advised them to perform well and study their roles, duties, and functions in the barangay to serve their constituents efficiently and effectively.
“We all want change. We all clamour for change, but we must start with ourselves. If we are united, change is possible, progress is possible and nothing is impossible,” Tudlong added.
Coinciding with the mass-oath taking of the SK officials, the Bontoc LGU through the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) presented the Certificates of Completion to the newly-elected SK Chairpersons and SK members for completing the two-day SK Mandatory Training (SKMT).
The Certificates of Completion were handed over by Mayor Tudlong and Vice Mayor Eusebio Kabluyen.
The SKMT is pursuant to Republic Act No. 10742 known as “The Sangguniang Kabataan Reform Act of 2015”, mandating any SK official to undergo the mandatory training program before he/she can assume office.
