BAGUIO CITY March 20 – The local government clarified that there are no city hall departments who are included in the five highly probable Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) cases in the city.
Mayor Benjamin B. Magalong claimed that reports alluding to him as having stated that 2 city hall department heads are among the 5 highly probable COVID-19 suspects are obviously unfair to the concerned officials and their families because such statements never emanated from him.
He stated that the real facts of the issue is that the 2 city hall department heads had contact with a close contact to one of the highly probable COVID-19 suspects who unfortunately passed away, thus, making them persons under monitoring and not highly probable COVID-19 suspects as two are totally different from each other.
As part of the precautionary measures adopted by the local government, the local chief executive ordered the concerned department heads and the personnel of the two offices to go on self-quarantine for the prescribed period.
Further, he also ordered the two places in city hall where the city officials and the contact of the COVID-19 suspect had visited disinfected for the safety of the local government officials and employees as well as the public.
He asserted that it will be the health department that will announce confirmed COVID-19 cases pursuant to existing protocols and that the public should be patient enough in awaiting whatever will be the latest developments in the 5 highly probable COVID-19 suspects in the city.
