TABUK CITY, Kalinga – The City Local Government Unit of Tabuk, led by Acting Vice Mayor Lucretina Sarol and the staff from the Office of Vice President (OVP) Sara Duterte, held a meeting for the presentation of medical and burial assistance to needy individuals on March 11, 2024.
Isabela Satellite Office Assistant Lead Wilhelmina Cureg-Quilang from the Office of the Vice President said that they are going to the grass roots to reach more individuals needing assistance in their office.
“Ang satellite office, bumababa kami to give assistance to the people, since we are hit by the El Nino phenomenon. It’s very timely,” Cureg-Quilang said.
She presented that their office and their service providers are offering assistance to individuals with their medications for hospital bills amounting to Php 10,000.00 and Php 5,000.00 for maintenance medicines. They are giving Php 5,000.00 in burial assistance in the form of cash to the families of the deceased.
Applicants who wish to avail of the assistance must indicate their intent on their applications and provide the necessary documentary requirements such as medical records, social case study report or certificate of indigency or eligibility, and valid identification card.
The program is given to anyone, regardless of their financial status. It can be availed once every 6 months. However, the medical assistance is not applicable to those who are involved in vehicular traffic accidents and in pregnancy cases.
To avail of the program, service providers in the city, such as hospitals, clinics, and pharmacies, must forge a Memorandum of Agreement with the Office of the Vice President and comply with certain requirements.
“Tulong tulong po tayo sa pagbibigay ng tulong dahil kung kami lang, hindi kami magiging successful without your help,” Cureg-Quilang added.
The OVP has already forged partnerships with the province of Kalinga and the AR Pharmacy. It has reached out to some municipalities and donated school bags and food packs. A tree-planting activity was also conducted in the province.
The OVP is reaching out to other service providers in different local government units in the country to offer their social programs.
