TANUDAN, Kalinga – Children and members of the Kalipunan ng Liping Pilipina (KALIPI) from Barangay Dacalan in the municipality of Tanudan, benefitted from the recent community outreach program organized by a group of mountaineers and the Kalinga Police Provincial Office (KPPO) on March 28-29.
Following their participation in the Lumin-awa Trek in February of this year as part of the Kalinga Bodong Festival, the group of mountaineers led by Mark Anthony Talibutab pledged to return to Kalinga and aid a community of their choosing. Brgy. Dacalan, located in Tanudan Municipality is the fortunate barangay. It was determined that 45 kids will be receiving stuffed toys and school supplies.
Talibutab said the first outreach program given by the group in Tanudan was in 2018 in Brgy. Lubo, and the group is planning to expand its humanitarian act by establishing a so-called toy library in Dacalan, in partnership with Share Your Spare, a non-government organization based in Singapore.
The members of this group, mostly professionals and residing in various areas in Metro Manila gave their personal money to materialize this cause, and according to Talibutab, they were amazed with the hospitality and ‘bayanihan’ of the people of Dacalan and the good sanitation practices in the community.
