A case of violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines is being readied for filing against six (6) violators hauling illegally sawn Narra lumber worth PhP64,990 in Brgy. Mabaca, Tanudan, Kalinga on August 23, 2023.
Based on the report submitted to PROCOR Regional Director, PBGEN DAVID K PEREDO, JR., the suspects were identified as Jhonel Manipon Detchoso, 21; Michael Jordan De Larma Mateo, 29; Alvin Ramos Batwagen Tondo, 25; Ricky Bale Lawi, 28; Richard Sikat Garma, 30; and Arnold Mateo Santos, 29; all residents of Quirino Province.
According to the same report, police officers of Tanudan Municipal Police Station (MPS) and joint personnel of DENR Kalinga and LGU Tanudan responded to a report regarding an ongoing hauling of illegally sawn Narra lumber near the river bank at Sitio Anago, Brgy. Mabaca, that resulted in the arrest of the suspects.
Confiscated from the suspect were one (1) unit chainsaw and seven (7) pieces of Narra lumber in different dimensions, with a total volume of 129.98 board feet and a market value of PhP64,990.
The arrested suspects are now under the custody of Tanudan MPS and will be facing charges for violation of PD 705 or the Revised Forestry Code of the Philippines, while the chainsaw and Narra lumber were brought to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Kalinga for proper disposition.
