Padilla reminded the new CPAs to treat their license as an intangible asset, thus, giving the newbie accountants the idea of safeguarding and not to lose it.
“Do the right thing in the face of ethical dilemma, don’t accept bribes, don’t cheat on your taxes, don’t prepare untruthful financial statements”, said Padilla, clearly putting premium on the valuing of retention of integrity.
He also stressed the importance of learning even to skills beyond accounting.
Being a CPA-lawyer himself, he suggested to the new CPAs and their parents to consider taking up law.
