LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – The Sangguniang Panlalawigan has approved in its regular session on May 29 Provincial Resolution No. 729-2017 entitled “An Act Providing For The Improvement of The 54-Kilometer Road Located In Brgy. Muelang, Mangatarem, Province of Pangasinan to Brgy. Guisguis, Sta. Cruz, Province of Zambales and Declaring It As A National Road To Be Known As The Daang Kalikasan National Road and Appropriating Funds Therefor.”
Authored by SP Member Raul P. Sison, the resolution highly endorsed House Bill No. 5163 filed in Congress by 2nd District Representative Leopoldo N. Bataoil last February 28.
As stated in the SP resolution: “the said unclassified road necessitates concreting and massive improvement considering that it is used by most vehicles for being the shorter passable road between the Provinces of Pangasinan and Zambales.”
The measure also noted that in order to achieve the foregoing improvement and needed infrastructure to be basically funded by the national government, there is a fundamental rule to first declare a certain road as a national road; thus, the proposed Act under House Bill No. 5163 declaring the subject road to be named as “Daang Kalikasan” National Road.
The SP resolution also cited the House Bill as “very timely and is for the bes interest not only of the travelers or riding public passing through the proposed national road but more so for the economic and collective contentment of the people of Pangasinan and Zambales.”
Copies of the approved resolution will be furnished the Speaker of the House of Representatives Pantaleon D. Alvarez and Cong. Bataoil for their information; and the rest of the congressional representatives to include Cong. Jesus D. Celeste (1st District), Cong. Rosemarie Arenas (3rdDistrict), Cong. Christopher de Venecia (4th District), Cong. Amado T. Espino, Jr. (5th District), and Cong. Marlyn P. Agabas (6th District).
