CAMP BGEN OSCAR M FLORENDO – A heated argument resulted in a shooting incident that injured a barangay chairman and killed his wife in Mangatarem, Pangasinan on August 9, 2018 at 12:00 in the afternoon.
Police Chief Inspector Benjamin E Zarate, Jr, Officer in Charge, Mangatarem Municipal Police Station, identified the victims as Ronald D. Aquino, Brgy Capt and his wife, Teresita F. Vicente, both residents of Brgy Bogtong Bunao, Mangatarem, Pangasinan
Based on the investigation conducted, the argument started on issues regarding the distribution of 33 sacks rice grains seeds given by the Department of Agriculture, when Philip V. Vicente, Barangay Kagawad of the said barangay drew his firearm and shoot Aquino. Unfortunately, Teresita F Vicente, wife of Aquino who was standing behind him, was hit on her left leg. The suspect fired another shot that hit Aquino’s body.
The victims were rushed in hospital but Teresita F. Vicente was declared dead on arrival. Aquino was still confined and to undergo a medical treatment in Blessed Trinity General Hospital of said municipality.
Recovered from the crime scene were one [1] colt combat commander cal 45 with serial number 160905 loaded with magazine filled with seven [7] ammunitions and one [1] fired cartridge case inserted in the chamber.
Police Chief Superintendent Romulo E Sapitula, PRO1 Regional Director instructed the ballistic examination of firearm recovered and trace the ownership of the same. He likewise emphasized the continuous conduct of operations against unlicensed firearms.
