LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Anti-Crime and Terrorism Through Community Involvement and Support (ACT-CIS) Party-list Representative and newly appointed Benguet caretaker congressman Eric Go Yap assured the people and officialdom of the province it will be the priority development projects and interest of Benguet that will be brought to the attention of concerned government agencies and the halls of Congress during his incumbency.
In his message during the welcome program accorded him at the Wangal Sports Complex Wednesday afternoon, Yap pointed out that that the programs and projects for Benguet will be brought to the province through the concerned government agencies and whatever will be the needs of Benguet which he could be of help will also be brought to the province.
He said that appropriate representations will be done with the agriculture department to increase the appropriations for farm-to-market roads (FMRs) as for this year, only 2 kilometers of FMRs had been funded despite the province being an agriculture area.
The Benguet caretaker congressman also claimed the people of Benguet will benefit from the public services provided by the ACT-CIS party-list with the upcoming establishment of its Action Center in the province to serve to the needs of the marginalized sector, especially medical, scholarship, among other basic needs, for them to be able to hurdle their difficulties in life.
More importantly, he assured the people of Benguet he will respect the customs and traditions of the indigenous peoples as is aware of the situation in this agriculture province even when he was a businessman involved in the buy and sell of machineries among others.
He claimed he will continue the programs and projects started by the late Rep. Nestor Fongwan, Sr. and will introduce innovations and adjustments to further meet the needs of the people, especially those in far flung communities who do not have access to the basic services provided by both the national and local governments.
He rallied the local officials and sectors in the province to sustain and further enhance their harmonious working relationship with government agencies for the smooth implementation of their priority development projects and enhance the delivery of basic services down to the grassroots level, especially those who to the marginalized sectors.
Yap disclosed he will continue to engage the different sectors of the province to elicit from them their development needs so he will also know how to make the necessary representations with the concerned government agencies for the prioritization of the projects to be funded and implemented in the province in the coming years as funds for this year had already been programmed.
