LINGAYEN, Pangasinan – Latest addition to the assorted events of Pistay Dayat 2017 celebration aside from the highly-anticipated traditional events are beach activities and adventures which offer the “distinctly Pangasinan summer experience.”
Provincial Tourism and Cultural Affairs Officer Malu Elduayan bared that the beach events and adventures which are either community-led or sponsored are expected to draw large crowd of Pistay Dayat revelers from various parts of Pangasinan, nearby provinces and even tourists from various countries.
“By having these events all set at the Capitol beachfront – aside from traditional Pistay Dayat events like the Limgas na Pangasinan and the Banca Parada, the Province presents a different glitter and taste in this year’s Sea Festival,” Elduayan said.
Sure crowd-drawing events by giant television networks in the country are Pistay Dayat Summer Saya with Kapamilya stars on the eve of 29th and GMA 7’s Kapuso Night on May 1st.
Starting this April 22, Saturday, the public is invited to take part in the Liket tan Gayaga ed Aplaya, featuring Insiong Tamayo and local DJs which will start at 8PM.
On April 23, the 3rd Music Festival ‘Tanol Pangasinan’ will be staged, introducing 20 local bands at the Capitol beachfront.
Added features on the ongoing 10th Trade and Tourism Expo at the Pangasinan Training and Development Center compound are nightly activities which include the SingLaban and Dancin’Vasion talent search, a sponsored activity led by the Magic Appliance Center.
Revelers could also experience gastronomic delights like sumptuous dishes and refreshing drinks at the 1st Pistay Dayat Food Park set at the back of the Veterans’ Memorial Park, and be mesmerized by the acoustic performances of bands and talents of Pangasinense performers showcased via the Keliaw na Talento ed Dayat (Pistay Dayat Got Talent).
Fire dance, standup comedy show, sayawan at musikahan sa dagat, acoustic jam and a national band concert are offered by the San Miguel Brewery starting on April 25 in a village set up at the Capitol beachfront.
The public is also invited to take part in the ‘I Love Pangasinan’ beach party on April 28 at 6PM onwards which is preceded by a zumba dance in the afternoon.
Two sporting events – Paboksing ed Gulpo and Beach Volleybelle tournament – also sizzle at the Capitol beachfront as the Pistay Dayat revelry reaches its climax.
Now on its 8th year, the boxing bouts of young Pangasinens boxers are slated on April 28 at the back of the Urduja House while the beach volleybelle competition is set on April 30 and May 1 at the Capitol beachfront.
Sponsored sporting events, on the other hand, include: Airsoft Competition and Military Simulation Games to be held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center (NRSCC) and Pangasinan National High School (April 22-23); Lingayen Gulf Golf Tournament at the Bonuan Beach Club in Dagupan City (April 23); and the 1st Urduja Cup – Invitational Shootfest at the Pangasinan PNP grounds (April 29-May 1).
Other sponsored events for the Pistay Dayat celebration which starts on the 29th include: Artillery Static Display, 1st Pistay Dayat Motorbike Show and Beach Flag Football Tournament. The 1st Governor’s Cup – Inter-Town/City Basketball Tournament (Awarding Ceremony and Fellowship) is set at 3PM onwards at the NRSCC gym.
Few hours before the elimination round for the beach volley tournament starts on April 30, the sand-sculpting competition, which is now open for participants from all over region 1, reels off at 5AM.
On the 30th, beachgoers could also witness the skydiving by the special operations command of the Philippine Army.
Pistay Dayat revelers may also avail of the chance to experience a machine-powered paragliding by the Capitol beachfront, starting on April 30 to May 1 at 8AM onwards. Said event was jointly sponsored by the provincial government and 2nd district Representative Leopoldo Bataoil.
The culminating activity will be held on May 1 when the Banca Parada will travel the Agno River from Lingayen to Bugallon.
A car show and the 1st Pangasinan Skateboarding competition is also set on May 1.
