BAGUIO CITY – Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Superintendent Lt. Gen. Ronnie Evangelista will be the guest of honor and speaker during the commemoration of the 122nd martyrdom of the country’s National Hero, Dr. Jose P. Rizal, on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at the Rizal Park.
Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan will be leading city officials and guests during the simple but meaningful activities that was lined up by the local government which will be joining the nation in the commemoration of the national hero’s martyrdom.
A national prayer for the fulfilment of Rizal’s aspirations and for the honor and holiness of the nation will usher in the program to be followed by the flag-raising rites, 21 gun salute rites and the lowering of the flag at half-mast, taps and ruffle and the singing of the Baguio Hymn by the Philippine Military Academy (PMA).
The wreath-laying ceremonies will be led by the representatives of the city government and other government agencies, Rizal Monument barangay, Free and Accepted Masons of the Philippines, veterans, Knights of Rizal, Knights of Columbus, Kababaihang Rizalista and the Rizal Commercial Banking Corp.
The theme of this year’s Rizal Day rites is Rizal 2018: Talino at Malasakit sa Isa’t-isa, Pundasyon ng Isang Malaya at Maunland na Bansa.’
This year’s theme not only reflects the wisdom and empathy of our national hero, but in line with President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s promise of genuine change, and his vision for a comfortable life for all through wise and sound policies, and compassion for all Filipinos.
