The City Council Committee on Health and Sanitation, Ecology and Environmental Protection will be conducting a public consultation on two proposed environment ordinances on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, 1-5 pm, at the city hall multipurpose hall.
Councilor Betty Lourdes F. Tabanda, chairman of the said committee, is inviting concerned individuals and groups to be present during the said public consultation to air their respective positions on the two proposed ordinances that are pending deliberations in the committee level.
The ordinances that will be subjected to the said public consultation are Proposed Ordinance No. 004-24 that seeks to institutionalize the Eco Waste and Sustainability Fair in the city and Proposed Ordinance No. 004-24 that seeks to provide for the management and regulation of waste, electrical and electronics equipment.
Earlier, the two proposed ordinances were filed before the local legislative body purposely to allow the effective and efficient disposal of electrical and electronics waste through the conduct of a regular Eco Waste and Sustainability Fair to allow the disposal of the type of waste and avoid added pollutants in the city.
One of the major thrusts of the local government is the formulation of guidelines for the proposer collection and disposal of electronics and electrical waste.
The proposed ordinance is pending study and review to the concerned council committee prior to its submission for second reading after publication and the introduction of the appropriate amendments before it will be calendared for third and final reading. By Dexter A. See
