BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan urged the public to immediate report to the police unscrupulous individuals and groups soliciting support using his name because he never authorized any group to use his name for such alleged illegal activities.
The local chief executive admitted that he was shown a solicitation letter by a certain group where his name and signature appear but his signature was allegedly forged by still undisclosed unscrupulous individuals.
He added he wants to get a copy of the original letter where his signature was forged so that he will request concerned law enforcement agencies to conduct the needed investigation to ascertain who forged his signature on the solicitation letter.
“We never authorized certain individuals and groups to solicit from business establishments and organizations on my behalf. We never solicited from business establishments for my birthday or Christmas celebrations and why we call on the public to immediately report to the police those individuals and groups using my name for their unauthorized solicitation activities,” Domogan stressed.
Additionally, Domogan pointed out that he also did not authorize individuals and groups to recruit members from the different parts of the city to form homeowners associations and squat on certain public lands as he allegedly will help them have their squatted areas titled in their name.
While he provides advise to informal settlers on what to do to convince private owners of the lands that they occupy, he is not tolerating the proliferation of informal settlers in the city more so as he is not involved in the increasing number of informal settlers in public and private lands around the city.
According to him, now that the Christmas season is fast approaching, many unscrupulous individuals are trying their luck to namedrop certain influential persons to advance their illegal activities of solicit funds from willing donors.
He is saddened by the fact that there are still individuals and groups who earn income by using the names of people and placing these people in bad light.
The mayor claimed the best way for the public to do once they receive a doubtful solicitation letter from individuals and groups is to refer the matter to the concerned personality or seek the assistance of the police so that those responsible for the illegal activity could be apprehended and charged.
