TABUK CITY, Kalinga – Officers and members of the various Pag-asa Youth Association (PYA) organizations in the city participated in a two-day training on leadership and social responsibility sponsored by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
This activity is intended to maintain a program of collaboration and cooperation with government and non-government organizations for the youth in all sectors and at all levels in the community, Gideon Wansi, the PYA focal person of CSWDO said.
As a form of youth empowerment, it also teaches them to be more responsible in fulfilling their respective role as part of the PYA family, he added.
For the first day of the activity, several topics were discussed like spiritual enhancement from Rev. Magno Bawalan of the St. John Evangelist Parish-Nambaran; Kabataan Noon at Ngayon from Vincent Valenzuela, PYA federation president; drug symposium from the 1503rd MC, RMFB15; and social responsibility of youth towards environment from Evelyn Likigan of the City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO).
On the second day, the following topics were presented like anger management from Vincent Galura of CSWDO and social responsibility and ethics from Evangeline Suma-al of the City Special Concerns and Coordinating Office (CSCCO).
PYA federation officers also gave updates on their accomplishments as well as on the issues that affect the operations of PYAs in their respective barangays and the proposed measures to address said issues. The PYA functionality evaluation tool was also made available to help organizations decide what initiatives should be implemented in their areas to meet the demands of all members.
It was also announced that a youth encampment will be held on the last week of July 2023 to gather the youth for arts and sports competition.
