BAGUIO CITY – The Development Administration (DevAd) Committee of the Regional Development Council (RDC) evaluated the existing criteria on the Regional Development Council Forwarding Local Autonomy Medal of Excellence (RDC- FLAME) Awards on June 13. The Regional Assessment Team (RAT) technical working group composed of BLGF, DILG, DENR, DSWD, NEDA, RDC Private Sector Representatives, among others, met to evaluate Cordillera local government units on their participation in the RDC, on the pursuit of regional autonomy and on good governance. Also included in the FLAME awards criteria are regional and national awards recently received by local government units (LGUs).
The FLAME awardees are chosen by the RDC Regional Awards Committee chaired by NEDA-CAR and assisted by the RAT chaired by DILG-CAR as DevAd chairperson. The FLAME awards aim to give recognition to LGUs that excel in good governance efforts and participation in regional development. The FLAME awards are divided into three categories: (1) provincial and highly urbanized city, (2) component city and 1st to 3rd class municipalities, and (3) 4th to 6th class municipalities.
The FLAME awards will be presented on July 15 at the culmination of the Cordillera Month Celebration. The Cordillera Unity Gong Relay which is part of the celebration is a good opportunity to go around the region to touch base with LGUs, DILG-CAR Regional Director and committee chair Marlo Iringan said.
This year, the CAR celebrates its 32-year anniversary with the theme “Building One Greater Cordillera”. This year’s hosts are the province of Kalinga and DPWH-CAR as chair of the RDC Infrastructure Committee.
