BOKOD, Benguet – The Cordillera Regional Development Council (RDC-CAR) and the Regional Peace and Order Council (RPOC-CAR) approved a joint resolution adopting the Regional Statistical Development Program (RDSP) 2017-2023.
The resolution stated members of the Regional Statistics Council (RSC) in the Cordillera passed Resolution O6, series of 2017 approving the 2017-2023 RSDP of the region during its third quarter RSC meeting held last August 29, 2017 and the enhanced CAR RSDP was approved on February 26, 2018.
Further, the RSC-CAR members endorsed to the RDC-CAR and the RPOC-CAR the region’s RSDP 2017-2023 for the two policy-making bodies to enjoin regional line agencies and local government units to align their programs and activities to the enhanced RSDP.
The resolution noted that the draft RSDP 2017-2023 was enhanced and revised to incorporate additional comments and inputs from the RSC members, concerned government agencies and from the standard service of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
According to the resolution, the CAR RSDP was formulated in accordance with the guidelines provided by the PSA board and in consultation with RSC members and other regional line agencies and local government units during a series of gatherings aimed at soliciting their inputs for the improvement of the data gathering initiatives of the government.
The RSDP lays the necessary framework for generating and disseminating statistics and indicators needed in the policy formulation, development planning and decision-making by various stakeholders and data users in the different parts of the region.
Section 6 (l) of Republic Act No. 10625 otherwise known as the Philippine Statistics Law directs the PSA to coordinate the formulation of the Philippine Statistical Development Program (PSDP) and the PSA regional offices to facilitate the preparation of the RSDP for efficient and effective data banking beneficial for data users around the country.
The formulation of the RSDP was undertaken with the issuance of PSA Memorandum Order No. 06 dated February 13, 2017 which aims to make statistics more relevant and responsive to national and regional development is a menu of the Regional Statistical System-wide program of CAR that covers statistical management and coordination, data production, statistical dissemination and use, research and capacity development, and resources in sub-national statistical system.
The resolution stipulated that the data generated from the RSDP is expected to support and monitor the implementation of the Cordillera Regional Development Plan 2017-2022 which takes off from the Duterte administration’s 0 plus 10 socio-economic agenda and the first medium term plan of the Ambisyon Natin 2040.
Among the 17 regions, CAR was the first to formulate and complete its RSDP after going through several consultations with concerned stakeholders and with the various committees of the RDC-CAR
The approved resolution is expected to be transmitted to the various regional line agencies and local government units regionwide for their information and appropriate action.
